Our Aim

At Greenleaf, we’re committed to a greener future. Our washroom units are crafted from recycled plastics, helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By choosing our products, you’re not only enhancing your facilities but also supporting environmentally responsible manufacturing.

Plus, enjoy fresh air without harmful aerosols — our new air fresheners are completely aerosol-free, providing a clean and safe environment for everyone.

Join us in making a positive impact on the planet, one washroom at a time.

We are evolving the way Greenleaf approaches sustainability. As part of our environmental commitment, we continually review the impact of our operations and develop plans to reduce our environmental footprint.

Greenleaf Hygiene recognises that environmental protection is a strategic business issue and an integral part of managing a Clinical Waste Collection service. We acknowledge that the proper storage, collection, and disposal of clinical waste is essential to protecting both human health and the environment. We also recognise our responsibilities to health, safety, and the environment, as well as our moral obligations in managing this sensitive waste stream. Our aim is to comply with all relevant legislation and other requirements, continue reducing the environmental impact of our operations, and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.

Responsibility

This environmental policy applies to all our operations, including management, office services, site operations, and procurement. John O’Donnell, Contracts Manager, has overall responsibility for ensuring that sufficient resources are made available to enable the business to achieve its environmental objectives and targets, and for ensuring that the policy is implemented.

Sustainable Supply Chains

We actively seek partnerships with supply chain businesses that share our ethical and sustainable values.

Ethical Waste Management

We can now offer a service, at a client’s request, where the hygiene waste we collect does not go to landfill. Instead, it is sent to local Energy from Waste (EfW) plants, where it is converted into a renewable fuel used to power homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses.

Objectives

For the next 12 months, we aim to:

  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and meet our duty of care requirements by ensuring the safe storage, transportation, and subsequent recovery or disposal of waste.
  • Communicate to all employees their responsibilities in achieving good environmental practice and the contribution they can make to continuous improvement.
  • Make efficient use of natural resources by conserving energy and water, minimising waste, and recycling where possible.
  • Reduce waste by re-using or recycling materials where appropriate.
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers to promote sound environmental practices in the selection, use, and disposal of all materials used in the business, including the transportation of products and materials.
  • Reduce energy consumption through sensible energy management of premises and equipment.
  • Keep transport use to a minimum and regularly service vehicles to maintain their efficiency. Vehicles will be replaced at the agreed renewal date to ensure the fleet remains efficient and minimises environmental impact.
  • Investigate the use of electric vehicles and adopt them where feasible, particularly when replacements are due and battery life makes this a viable option.
  • Include environmental considerations in all investment decisions related to new plant, equipment, or working practices.
  • Reduce or avoid pollution wherever possible.
  • Use the most environmentally friendly cleaning products whenever possible.
  • Promote good environmental practice among all Greenleaf Hygiene Solutions (Scotland) Ltd employees.

The business is committed to achieving high standards and will adopt good practices and procedures to ensure the most environmentally suitable methods are used to support its operations and deliver its services.

Targets

To achieve our aims, we have set the following targets:

  • Monitor all vehicular routes and optimise performance by ensuring all routes are the most economical in terms of mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Ensure regular servicing of all vehicles to maximise efficiency.
  • Our Account Managers will ensure that clients fully understand that the best way to reduce waste generated is through segregation at the client’s premises, complying fully with current legislation.
  • Recycle as much paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and food waste generated in the office as possible.

Over 30 years of experience!

That’s why we are Scotland’s premier washroom company.
